Astro Bot Rescue Mission is a 18 virtual reality platform video game developed by SIE Japan Studio's ASOBI Team and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4 's PlayStation VR headset It is a spiritual successor to 13's The Playroom and the first installment in the Astro Bot franchise The developer previously headed up Japan Studio's ASOBI Team, which developed Astro Bot as well as its predecessor, The Playroom VR The Playroom launched for free alongside PSVR in 16 and featured several mini games, including one that grew into the full Astro Bot The studio was formed in 12 and has worked on a variety of tech demos to show the capabilities of the PS4, PS5, and PSVR Its latest works, Astro Bot Rescue Mission and Astro's Playroom, have given a new mascot to Sony's console, and it seems as though we'll see this explored further in whatever new game comes next
